Blue Funk

Things that run through our minds are mostly difficult to express on our faces
We wear the prettiest of faces to hide our ugly self
Dark thoughts of a depressed mind
Emotional wars that cannot be controlled
Conflicts with our conscience but we're loosing it.
Sometimes we look at the world around us and it seems we don't belong in it
We stay hanging in a state of dilemma with a loose noose
Waiting impatiently for our necks to break.
Our cries of help is heard only in our minds
Too scared to expose our fears
We embrace the darkness and let our past create our paths.
We hold on to our realities and do away with what we believe in - our Imagination
Now it looks like we strive to succeed against life

We've been made to believe in the beliefs of a society which doesn't believe in us
We are slaves to the luxury we seek making us labor endlessly; directly or indirectly
Our brains are being  picked leaving our minds empty
Our lips are sealed and our hands shackled
Attached to the strings of society, we are puppets of unknown forces
Standards are raised, our wins are seen as big losses
And when it dawns on you, you realize the mess that you are
We lie to console ourselves because the truth is a bitter pill to swallow
With hopes to break from these strings and ride on the wings of the Crane......
